Frequently asked questions

What do I need to attend a class?

- Bring a cushion so you can sit comfortably during the session.

- A face oil of your choice.  We have a limited number of Ayurvedic face oils available to purchase.

- Gua Sha Tool & Roller: Available on Amazon for around $10. You can use the gua sha and roller at home. (Don't stress if you can't get one in time, we can show you how to use your hands for a similar effect. You can bring the gua sha and roller to the next class!)

How often do I need to practice to see results?

For the best results, practice at least twice a week.  Our class is a full facial workout that utilizes resistance and massage techniques, maximizing the effectiveness of your practice.

What are the benefits of the heat in this practice?

The infrared heat used during sessions warms up the facial muscles, improves circulation, and feels deeply comforting. Infrared heat penetrates the skin to help stimulate collagen production while enhancing overall well-being.

How hot is the room?

The room will be at around 88 to 90F. Being under the infrared heat feels like being under a  wonderfully radiant warm sun.

How do you add resistance to the Face Yoga workout?

We add resistance to certain exercises by using our hands. This technique is akin to performing a workout with weights on your face, effectively building strength and tone.

How soon can I see results from Face Yoga?

You can notice results from your very first class! After just one hour of targeted facial exercises, massage, and gua sha techniques, you'll be amazed at the transformation. While immediate improvements are possible, regular practice is key to maintaining muscle strength. The more you practice, the better you'll get at isolating and effectively exercising the targeted muscles, leading to a sculpted and youthful appearance. Aim for regular practice twice a week for optimal results.

Why come to a class when there are so many face yoga exercises on face yoga apps and social media?

It's wonderful to see so many people promoting the benefits of face yoga. While those exercises can be helpful, our practitioners have found that participating in a group atmosphere, in a room dedicated solely to one hour of Face Yoga, greatly enhances commitment to the practice. Being in the presence of a certified instructor and other members is incredibly motivation, fosters a sense of community and is way more fun than doing face exercises alone!

Additionally, in-person Face Yoga classes provide the benefit of personalized guidance. An experienced instructor can clarify any misalignments and ensure you're performing the postures correctly. Incorrect techniques can potentially lead to wrinkles and damage to the face, which is why we believe in-person sessions are very effective.

Can I do Face Yoga if I have had botox or fillers?

Yes, if you had botox or fillers you can still do face yoga. Most of the time, you’ll have to wait 6 weeks after the botox injection before starting with facial exercise or facial massage. Keep in mind that facial exercises can make botox injections wear off a bit faster. You’ll might also have some difficulty activating the muscles from the start since botox paralyzes the tissue around the wrinkles. Talk to your doctor first and make sure to get a green light for facial exercise.

With fillers, it depends on where they are. If you just had fillers in your lips, you can exercise the rest of the face. Avoid massaging your lips after having fillers to prevent them from moving around and altering your desired look. If you have had cheek fillers, you’ll probably want to avoid doing cheek exercises for a while. Since the filler can move around before it completely settles. To be on the safe side, wait a couple of weeks and consult your doctor before proceeding with face yoga.
